  • 2025 Future Cougar Cheerleader Clinic (Ages 7-12)

    Come work with the Championship Cougar Cheer teams to learn the basics of sideline cheerleading and perform during the first half of the opening football games under the lights in the Cougar Stadium! Please bring $10 cash (materials fee) to your first clinic to cover bow and t-shirt to wear at performance. Dress in athletic wear with hair tied back and come ready to practice.     Adult Swim Beginner/Intermediate (Ages 18+)

    Beginner: Whatever your ability, this small group instruction for ages 18 and up will help you improve your skills and self-confidence. The lessons are designed for those who have little or no experience in the water. Students will learn submersion into the water, front & back floats, and beginner swim strokes. Intermediate: The lessons are designed for those who are able to swim at least one length (25 yards) of the pool. Students will focus on endurance and beginner stroke perfection. We will also introduce more advanced swim strokes. All registrations must be made more than 2 business days prior to the start date of the class.     This camp is for more experience chess players who have had 2-3 chess classes and/or played in tournaments with USCF ratings of 600-1200.     Front crawl–100 yards, Backstroke–100 yards, Butterfly–50 yards, Elementary backstroke–50 yards, Breaststroke–50 yards, Sidestroke–50 yards. Demonstrate the following turns while swimming: front crawl open turn, backstroke open turn, sidestroke turn, front flip turn, backstroke flip turn, breaststroke turn, butterfly turn. Students will perform the Cooper 12-minute swim test (swim for 12 minutes to cover the greatest distance possible, using whatever stroke is preferred. Rest as necessary, but go as far as possible) and will compare the results over the length of the course.     Brain Game Camp (Ages 4-7) - Half Day - AM Only CAMP

    Children are trained in various games that require focusing, problem solving, and concentration. It is a great precursor to chess, helping players to begin "thinking ahead", 1st move than 2nd move(s). Many games are employed, including Connect 4, Tic Tac Toe, 3D Tic Tac Toe, Fox & Hunter, Kings, Checkers, and Concentration. Brain Games are not as complex as chess but help to develop the skills that will facilitate a transition to chess. Full day campers, please remember to bring a lunch and water bottle daily.     Join us for a mini-monstrous journey into the Challenge Island wild! Our adventurous STEAM Teams are on a quest to catch, collect and train all the island's mini-monsters. They'll visit gyms, earn badges, go on treasure hunts, and even engage in a battle or two. With the help of their ally STEAMaroo, a clever and friendly kangaroo islandmon, our STEAM teams will tackle an island full of engineering challenges as they evolve into true STEAM Champions. Ready?     Once upon a time, there was a bestselling camp that tuned favorite children's books into fantastical slimy adventures. Students will work in small STEAM Teams to mix up new slime classics like Alice's Un-birthday Cake Slime, Charlie's Everlasting Gobstopper Slime, Percy's Blue Cookie Slime, Narnia's Turkish Delight Slime and STEAMwarts Butter Beer Slime. In addition to making two slimes a day, every camper will also receive a copy of our book Surprise at Blow Cart Beach: A Challenge Island STEAM Adventure, which is filled with slimy science and treasures.     This class focuses on coordinating arm and leg movements and improving upon skills learned in PSA Levels 1 and 2. Students should feel very comfortable in the water at this point. They will learn how to develop positive attitudes and safe practices around the water. Exercises include bobbing, rhythmic breathing, front and back glide (with and without kick), combined stroke on front & back finning, treading water and safety skills are taught.     The focus of this camp is to provide aspiring wrestlers with valuable experience in the sport. Each day will feature a variety of activities and games designed to improve their athleticism and technique. Activities include live wrestling, conditioning, technique drills, and games. What to bring: large water bottle (at least 32 oz.), running or athletic shoes, shorts, sweats, and a t-shirt. Wrestling shoes and headgear are also required. Additionally, please pack a bagged lunch and snacks to stay fueled throughout the day.     JC's Famous Fun with Drums Class! This class introduces beginning drum students to some of the essentials of drumming. Basic stick patterns - strengthening exercises - coordination building - and of course, plenty of playing along to songs. Our hope is to get our students excited about playing drums and advancing to our private lesson program, where we will then customize the lessons to each students abilities.     Students build on previous skills through additional guided practice. They continue to develop their front crawl and backstroke with rhythmic breathing. They learn new skills such as jumping into deep water, dolphin kicks, scissors kicks, elementary backstroke. Students must be able to perform front crawl with very good, consistent rhythmic breathing before moving to the next level. No adult participation required.     Learn football skills and techniques, and improve your understanding of the game of flag football - another wonderful entry point into the great game of football! During the week of leaning newly skills, we will test and participate in a flag football scrimmage at the end of the week.
