WANT TO ENSURE A SPOT?
This league can be an excellent opportunity for students and our RCS community. To achieve success we need 1 volunteer coach at the 4th and 5th grade levels to ensure that a participating elementary school has a team. Volunteer coaches will be able to select a volunteer assistance coach. All Volunteer Coaches and Assistants will need to go through the iChat and RCS Enrichment department Volunteer Background Process. Click to fill out the Volunteer Coaching Interest Form.
INTERESTED IN BEING A SPONSOR?
There is a start-up cost for the elementary school. If the school does not have the funds, the team won’t be able to be organized. Do you have a business or know somebody who does that would be interested in being a league sponsor?
Rochester Orthodontics, Douglas J Salons / Douglas J Aveda Institutes, Moose Athletics, Crossfire HR Group, Jeffery Automotive Group, Ray Lighting Centersand Prefix are REBL’s first sponsors. Check them out! Their generous donations will help provide participating elementary teams with needed equipment and resources!
If you have a business that would be interested in sponsoring, reach out to rcsrebl@gmail.com Lots of families will be connected to this league across the district. We will make sure your logo and business link is promoted.
FAQs
Q: What if there is not a coach for a grade level?
A: Unfortunately, without a volunteer coach, there will not be a team for that grade level at that elementary school.
Q: What if the team/class is full?
A: Once a team fills up, a waitlist will occur. During this first year, we will evaluate items like obtaining volunteer coaches, gym space, registrations, and interest. That data will help inform decisions like the possibility of adding an additional team at each school.
Q: Elementary gyms are small, where can we sit?
A: Yes, elementary gyms are made for elementary students! Bring a chair and it will work out. Kids don’t care, they just want to play.
Q: Are games going to be structured?
A: Yes, we will have assistant coaches/coaches or volunteers like National Honor Society students referee games so that there is structure and players are learning the rules of the game.
Q: How does playing time work?
A: All players on the team will receive equal playing time.
Q: My student plays basketball in another local league, can he/she still play in REBL?
A: Yes! We know there are many great basketball options in the Rochester Area. We are not competing with other leagues. Continue to play in other leagues. If your student is available on Wednesday/Thursday evenings and is interested in playing basketball for their school then sign up for REBL.
