Rochester Community Schools

The FEDS on the Rochester High School robotics team compete on a global scale in the areas of engineering, business, imagery, STEM outreach and safety. Our "Agents of Change" on the Falcon Engineering and Design Solutions (FEDS) team members participate in the FIRST Robotics competition by designing, building, wiring, and programming a competitive robot built according to season rules. In addition, Agents ensure that STEM education is accessible to as many interested students as possible. Agents work with mentors who are industry leaders in an array of fields, establishing skill sets and mentoring relationships that last for years to come. The FIRST community becomes a long-lasting network of connections for students that often lead to scholarships, internships, and career guidance. The FEDS are dedicated to the FIRST values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and is run solely by volunteer mentors. Parent participation is highly encouraged.

Potential members are asked to complete an online application and read the additional information on participation requirements and deadlines. Submit payment on this page once you have applied and have been accepted.

Meetings:

• Returning FEDS will continue meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 pm.
• New FEDS: There will be an info session for parents/students on Thursday, 9/7/23, 7-8 pm, in the RHS Media Center. This is an optional opportunity for prospective students/parents to learn more about the program.
• All FEDS: There will be a mandatory orientation for parents/students joining the team, in which a parent is required to attend. Orientation is required for all FEDS (new and returning, without exception). Orientation will be offered twice: Thursday, September 14, from 7-9 pm and Saturday, September 16, from 1-3 pm, both in the RHS Media Center. Team fees are payable by check/cash/Venmo (@stemunited).

Our team meets every Tuesday and Thursday from September – December, from 6-9pm. Starting January, we meet M-Th, and Saturday until our competition season starts in March. During competition season, we meet as needed to meet team goals. We take a break in July and begin meeting again on Thursday evenings in Aug. See our tentative team schedule here. Additional fees: Paid by check/cash/Venmo (@stemunited) at or before orientation:

• $250 for team materials and competitions entrance fees.
• $50 for team uniform.
