A beginner-friendly program designed to help kids and adults learn how to confidently operate a sewing machine, complete simple projects, and handle everyday repairs with ease. These sessions build confidence, improve coordination, and encourage creative problem-solving through hands-on practice. Learn more at www.mytandala.com. Course includes $50 materials fee. 

Level 1: Machine-Sewing Basics 

Perfect for first-time learners who want to understand how a sewing machine works and complete simple, satisfying projects. 

What You’ll Learn:

Class 1: Getting to know the sewing machine
Understanding machine parts and their functions. Winding a bobbin, threading the machine, and basic safety. Building comfort and confidence before stitching.

Class 2: Mastering the straight stitch
Practicing stitch length and tension basics, developing control and rhythm. 

Class 3: Sewing curves & simple seams
Practicing gentle curves and seam allowances, understanding fabric direction and guiding techniques.

Class 4: Introduction to finishing techniques
Simple edge finishing, reinforcing stitches for durability. 

Class 5: Small project-Tote bag/Pillow cover/Fabric pouch
A beginner-friendly project using straight seams. 

Students take home a functional item they made themselves. 

All Materials Included:

• Scissors
• Thread
• Needles
• Practice fabric
• Fabric pins
• Pre-cut cotton fabric for projects
• Fabric markers or chalk
• Sewing machine
