Short Description
Van Hoosen STREAM Leaders – 2025–2026
Stream Leaders is an opportunity for 8th-grade students to get involved in some real science and help our community. Each spring, we take a select number of students to the stream and spend the day learning how to conduct chemical and macroinvertebrate tests in order to assess the quality of the stream. Then the Stream Leaders will analyze our findings and determine factors that are affecting our community’s water quality. In late May when all 8-th grade students conduct the water quality tests, you will be responsible for assisting in training your peers, organizing materials and leading groups at the stream site. There will be 2 field trips during this club with the possibility of additional opportunities for onsite learning.
**Prerequisite: completed and approved Stream Leader application and letter of recommendation due by Wednesday, October 8th. Application and letter of recommendation links available on Mrs. Zsigo and Mr. Stanley’s Google Classrooms. Paper copies available outside Rooms 131 & 132.
Students will be contacted after Oct. 8 if they are chosen to be a Stream Leader.
Please do not pay unless your student has been contacted with confirmation of acceptance.
