Rochester Community Schools

Any student who expresses an interest in volunteering or applying to work with the RCE Swim Program may take this class to learn how to assist with and instruct an RCE Swim Class. The course will last three weeks, be taught by a swim supervisor, and cover all RCE Swim Class levels. Students will receive blank control sheets at the beginning of the course to help them understand the learning objectives for each class and level. Upon completion, students will receive an Instructor Assistant Certificate.

Requirements:

• Students must be 13 years of age or older (possible exceptions via Ernie Thomas' approval).  
• Students must have a basic understanding of swimming and water safety.  

Class Breakdown:

• Class 1:     Tadpole & Guppy (Tiny Tot 1 & 2)
• Class 2:     Clownfish & Neon
• Class 3:     Rainbow, Flag, & Parrot
• Class 4:     Marlin, Sailfish, & Barracuda
• Class 5:     Teen/Adult & Review Day
• Class 6:     Teach Back & Evaluation Day

At the completion of this class each student will be able to...

• Teach back at any level
• Feel comfortable describing/teaching/demonstrating skills to all age levels (to students and parents)
• Be able to recognize and correct mistakes

All registrations must be made more than 2 business days prior to the start date of the class. Classes that do not meet established minimums will have to be cancelled. Please register early to avoid cancelled classes!
